Vanessa Ngan qualified as a pharmacist in 1989. After spending several years as a pharmacist at Auckland Hospital she moved into the medical publishing industry. At Adis International she was involved in medical writing and editing, medical meetings organisation and database management of a “point-of-care” clinical information website. In 2002 a lifestyle change took Vanessa to the Hawke's Bay where she is currently employed by the HBDHB Information Services Department as a business systems analyst. Working part-time in this position enables her to also work as a freelance writer for DermNet NZ.
